The Camrose Ski Club

One might expect that with a prominent Norwegian element in the district, skiing would dominate as a major sport in early Camrose. The Camrose Ski Club (originally the Fram Ski Club) was started in 1911. The first jump was built in 1912, but blew down and was replaced in 1924. This second jump also blew down and was rebuilt in 1927. The ski jump was extended in 1932 for the Western Canadian Ski Jumping Championships. It was then dismantled in 1960. During its proud history, the Camrose Ski Club has produced several Olympians in jumping, cross country, Nordic combined, and biathlon.
