The First Pump Station

In our earliest history, drinking water was provided by individual wells. In 1911, the town built a water tower and drilled several wells, which were then converted to five underground reservoirs. On top of each reservoir, a pump station was built which pumped the reserve water up into the water tower. Gravity then provided the necessary pressure to distribute the water through town. One such pump station was located on the banks of the Stoney Creek at this location.
