How Mirror Lake Got Its Name

Our lovely little man-made lake was created in 1905 as a storage reservoir for supplying water for steam engines. The lake was simply known as “the dam” until the Camrose Chamber of Commerce sponsored a “Name the Dam” contest in 1961, which resulted in the name “Mirror Lake”. Countless photographs and paintings have captured the shoreline reflected in Mirror Lake’s clear surface; particularly in the spring and early summer.
